Day: 2, Challenges Remaining: 92.5

So no, I don't actually think that I managed to loose 7.5 lbs in one day, but I figure the idosyncracies of the scale will even out over time - that or I strategically timed my weigh-in before eating and after pooping. I did eat out for dinner tonight, as you will see. I feel a bit disappointed about that, but it is also the only thing I ate today, so I don't think I'll lose sleep over it. The real challenge is that tomorrow I am going to brunch with two local friends and both of my roommates. I have to remember to eat slowly and be conscious of my portion sizes.

Food consumed:
11:00 AM - 1 can of diet coke
2:00 PM - 32 oz of water
4:00 PM - 3 cans of diet coke
7:00 PM - Dinner serving of sesame chicken with a side of steamed rice
10:00 PM - 1 glass of wine
11:00 PM - 1 medium-sized piece of purse cake

Exercise completed:
2:00 PM - 65 minutes on treadmill (3.35 miles, 2.5% incline)
6:30 PM - walking to and from the Chinese restaurant... I'm not sure if it counts, it's only a few blocks, but it makes me feel better about myself.

  1. A great plan! I am very proud of you. following are a few suggestions and some pledges. Get a pedometer and aim for 10,000 steps a day. I have found that the cheaper pedometers ($5 to %8) work better than the expensive ones. I would advise not using an incline on the treadmill until you are quite a bit lighter because it puts incredible stress on your knees. Finally a couple of pledges: First I will send you a great book that can really help guide your food planning and seoond, I will pay you $1 per pound up to your 100 pound goal, let's say, payable each month. then, once you've reached goal, I will match the total amount once you've kept the weight off for 6 months. So, that could mean $200 in your pocket. Plus, I'd like to offer an exercise incentive, so what idea do you have to offer? Maybe it could be based on walking >10K steps daily 5X per week earns an addition sum?

  2. Is a pedometer something you think I can pick up at, say, a Target? I will definitely look into it.

I didn't read this until just now, so I will cool it on the incline for a while as you suggest.

Oh, and thanks for your pledge! Dad & Grandma and Grandpa are in the ranks as well. I will certainly keep up the blog so you know how everything is going. So far so good (but having been such a short time, I am not in the endurance phase yet).

  3. Yeah, Target. I even found one at a Dollar Tree. It worked great except for the clip, which was a crap-clip. when it is working properly you will hear a little click-click as a tiny weight goes up and down with each step. If your waistband rolls or something so it ends up upside-down, it won't work right.

  4. Okay - I'll work on getting one, and when I do you will see a new daily stat :)
